Até onde eu sei, o criador do Cirque du Soleil, Guy Lalibertè e o beatle George Harrison eram bem amigos. E juntos imaginaram um espetáculo do Cirque que tivesse os Beatles como tema.

O post tá atrasado, eu sei. Mas andei escutando o CD e vendo trechos do espetáculo...
O som tem sua meia dúzia de "forçadas de barra" (se é que chega a meia dúzia). No geral, a nova mixagem das músicas ficou muito bem feita e coesa. Fãs dos Beatles vão poder ouvir velhas canções não só repaginadas mas recombinadas. Os melhores momentos são o início de Get Back e o final de Strawberry Fields Forever, bem como a repaginação de Octopus's Garden (que eu nem gosto tanto no original).
Ainda, esbarrei nesse comentário do Mike Portnoy (baterista do Dream Theater) sobre o projeto:

Or more specifically, I should say the true heroes are Sir George and Giles Martin.
They have created a masterpiece (with a little help from their friends!) that quite possibly represents the most amazing sonic Beatles experience currently in existence!
For starters, the Beatles music has never sounded this crisp and ALIVE.
(further proof their catalog is in long need of a remastering update since their initial CD releases 20 years ago...)
But on a creative level, the Martins have created an album that might be the quintessential desert-island Beatles experience. Everything is PERFECT...from the song selection, to the segues to the sequencing...it plays like a great film or a piece of theater (which I suppose makes sense being that was the purpose of this project to begin with...)
The opening of the album (from the accapella "Because" into the crescendo montage leading to "Get Back") sent chills down my spine and brought a tear to my eye...and it never let up for the next 75 minutes!
From the marriages of pieces like Drive My Car/The Word/Taxman/What Your Doing to Tomorrow Never Know/Within Without You to the version of Strawberry Fields which shows its development from demo to final version and adds Penny Lane, Hello Goodbye and Piggies on the fade....this is pure genius!!!
And the newly added strings to "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" have finally given George his very own "Yesterday"

Sobre o espetáculo, eu não tinha dúvidas. O Cirque du Soleil é simplesmente fantástico. Eles chegaram num ponto de hibridismo entre o circo tradicional, o clown, o teatro nô e o espetáculo pop que é difícil conseguir criticar.
E olha que só assisti os espetáculos em DVD. Imagina quem viu (e me descreveu) as performances no palco... Se La Nouba, Saltimbanco, Alegria e Varekai já eram fantásticos, porque uma performance sobre os Beatles deixaria de ser?
Espero, algum dia, assistir da platéia especial, esse espetáculo.
